What I have read so far this year

Before I start I should probably throw out there that I had a few DNF (did not finish) books this year. As someone that has dealt with anxiety my entire life if something isn’t working for me I let it go. Books can sometimes be triggering and while I have some basic rules for myself, things also change as I get older and also change.

When my kids were little and Andy traveled a lot for work we had some health scares with kiddos that led me to completely rule out any book where a kid got sick. I needed books to escape and if it hit too close to home it was a no go. No sad books about dogs (duh), or moms dying and not being able to see their kids grow up. That said I also like to read more than just “light reads” but I also have to be in the mood.

All of this to say, some of the books I put down are rated really high and maybe someday I will revisit them but because the past couple of years have felt somewhat heavy at times (more of that to come at some point) I gave and still give myself permission to walk away if needed.

Oh I should also add that I joined kindle unlimited this year. So far I feel like I am getting my monies worth!

Ok here we go

I started the year strong with this book Don’t forget to write. I ADORED this book. Seriously just read it. I would have loved to have someone like Ada in my life! Bonus this book is on Kindle Unlimited.

His & Hers. I like a good mystery. This one was a bit creepy and kept me guessing. Also on Kindle Unlimited.

The lies I tell. I enjoyed this one. It was different and kept my attention.

The Housemaid. I’m sure you have heard of this one. People either love FM or hate her. This one was hard to put down for me. Another one that is on Kindle Unlimited.

All of the Finlay books are fun and easy reads. Loved this one. Also on Kindle unlimited

Similar to the first but I still really enjoyed The housemaids secret. Kindle unlimited

The true love experiment was a light fun read.

The influencer. This was a quick easy read. I enjoyed it.

I was somehow late to the game with Abbey Jimenez books. Read Yours Truly first and really liked it!

I was really looking forward to this one. First lie wins. I thought it was ok. Not sure what I was missing.

Ok so here we go with my first DNF. Reminders of him was rated high but I got bored.

The missing ones was another dnf. Another one that was rated high but just not for me.

The most fun we ever had was one I really wanted to like. DNF. I will probably try this one again

The Good Sister. Sally Hepworth never disappoints.

Just for the summer. Another good beach read!

Everything I never told you. I enjoyed her other books but this one was DNF. I honestly don’t even remember what it was about.

Was at the beach a lot this Summer so was on a roll with Abby. The happy ever after playlist.

Life’s too short

Loved girl on the train but Into the water was a DNF.

On a quiet street. Really enjoyed this one.

Friends with Secrets. This was another quick read. Enjoyed it.

Read The Soulmate recently while on vacay in the Bahamas. It was a page turner and l liked the short chapters, made it easy to pick up.

Such a bad influence Y’all I can’t decide about this one. I finished it, and it had so much truth in the story about SM these days. I guess I liked it. Was not expecting the ending.

And finally The Heiress. Grabbed this one because it was set in the NC mountains and had a lot of local references. Actually a pretty good read and was perfect for our last day in the Bahamas when I was all done with water slides and just wanted to sit and read lol.

About to start Keep it in the Family. Will let you know if I like it!
