Asheville

Blake came down for the weekend so we could head to check out UNC Asheville, a school that he had been accepted to but had never visited.

Blake fell in love with Asheville back when we visited back in 2017. He flew in from Ohio and we packed up the car and drove the 3.5 hours to the mountains.

When we got to our hotel it had started to rain. Which it would continue to do for most of the weekend.

We stayed at the Omni Grove Park Inn. You can’s see in the picture but there are mountains behind Blake. The hotel is super old and has a wall showcasing all the famous people that have stayed there over the years. It had an amazing parlor area with live music and massive fireplaces.

It poured, I mean like really poured when we toured the campus the next morning.

After the UNC tour we went out and about to explore downtown Asheville. There are signs like this all over the place. 🙂

The view from our room

I can’t wait to go back to this place, so so amazing.

I was so happy that it stopped raining and we could walk around and explore- inside of this place is the spa, we snuck in and walked around but couldn’t get to the cool underground pool, maybe next time.

F. Scott Fitzgerald stayed at the hotel for 2 years while his wife was in a nearby hospital. They had some of his stuff.

Breakfast with this dude. He bought a UNC tracksuit at a thrift store because it was chilly and EVERYONE was staring at him. He’s 6’4″ so we are thinking people probably thought he was a basketball player. LOL.

We went back home and the family went over to Durham for dinner. Durham is so cool.

Blake flew back to Ohio the next day. It was a great weekend with him.
