We are in!!

It’s crazy that we have lived here a year and now we finally get to settle in. It hasn’t been smooth sailing and I feel like my emotions are still all over the place. Can someone please remind me not to do this again?

That ugly gold door handle is now gone. It was temporary so workers could get in.

We moved in July 3rd, well at least started to. Slow going with unpacking and still having a ton of stuff in storage. Today I had to take Eva to the dentist, Cole to the doctor, and the underground fence guy came to install our fence and now Oakley is afraid to go outside. Ugh.
Good news is that Cole has had Ohio buddies here all for a while and that has been fun.

Lots of dragonflies in the pool

The dogs LOVE the pool. We had to keep them out the first week while the plaster cured. They could finally get in a couple days ago.

Cole had so much fun his buddies here. I did too! 🙂

Our new screened porch is a lot smaller than our old one and gets a lot of afternoon sun. So it may need new furniture and some curtains that we can pull to block off the sun when needed.

Cole got a bad double ear infection at the end of his friends visit. Took him in and he had a decent fever and also swimmers ear. Poor kid.Ohio boys headed home. He was sad to see them leave but also really needed to rest and get better before his week at running camp in the mountains.

A couple years ago one of our friends was up in Michigan with some guys and one of them had Labrador. This dog loved the ball (like Hudson) and one of the guys threw it for him, the dog jumped and when he did he twisted his back and broke his spine. Our friend said he has never heard a dog scream like that. They took him to the emergency vet but ultimately he had to put down. Needless to day this scared me as Hud does the same thing and I have seen him twist in weird ways. We for sure changed the way we threw the ball for him after hearing that story. But… the other day I was just sitting on the couch and he brought me his ball and I threw it and he twisted weird. Cried. And then couldn’t walk. I can’t even begin to describe how scared I was. After a few minutes he got up and walked but was obviously in pain. I texted our vet and she said he was probably ok to wait until the morning. I took him in and because Hudson is so stoic it was hard to tell where the pain was actually coming from. Leg, back, hips, etc. She put him on pain meds and said to give it a week. So far he is improving but we have been making him lay low. So scary 🙁

He is getting spoiled and is on the mend.
