Austin takes his running pretty seriously but unfortunately his first high school cross country season has been plagued with injuries. The latest being another sprained ankle. Looks like his season might be wrapping up a bit early.
The season started back in the summer. Austin didn’t know the trails very well and seemed to get lost often. The ongoing joke was where is he going to end up next?
The first time he ended up at a frat house down on UNC’s campus. He seemed to like that one. The guys in the frat were really nice to him. They let him hang out, gave him tips on how to get into UNC, let him call his mom…..
The second time he got lost he got on a public transit bus but it turned out they were going the wrong way, so he tried to switch buses but the 2nd bus wouldn’t let him on because he wasn’t wearing a shirt. He finally got picked up by a cross country coach for one of the middle schools. (He didn’t have his phone). It’s a good thing we live in a small town.
Last week he actually got lost at a meet, and ran an extra half mile more than everyone else.
I think the boy needs a built-in gps.
Yesterday I found Cole’s bird on the bottom of the cage. I haven’t told him yet. I’m not sure he will notice any time soon. SO we are down to one bird (from the 4 we started with).
It made me sad. Pets are so hard sometimes. Even if you don’t like them all that much (Sally the bird was really really mean).
After Milo (the final bird) dies, that’s it for birds. Sticking to dogs.
Dogs Rock. (well mine are bad- but I love them anyway).
