Which may sound like a milestone- like we are leaving the terrible twos behind. But in my experience, three has always been worse than two.
Especially with my first born. He was the WORST. Eva reminds me a lot of him at this age. Very opinionated, very stubborn, lots of tantrums when things didn’t go his way. And now (for the most part) he’s a good mellow kid. I’m not sure Eva will ever be mellow but you just never know!
She is getting to that age where she says whatever she thinks- like at the grocery store we were walking through the meat/seafood area “ohhhh this store stinks! the food stinks!!” Then as a man walks past us she yells, “and that guy stinks too!!”
Austin did that once. Yelled, “that guy is huge!” when an overweight man walked by. I mean they all do it, it just doesn’t make it any less embarrassing.
My friend told me the other day that when she first moved here to Chapel Hill from California 8 years ago, you could recycle only newspaper. A couple years later they did a major overhaul and modeled their recycling program after San Jose. I know I have mentioned it before but I am really impressed with it.
They seem to have thought of everything to keep things out of the dump. I love this idea, before you put your magazines out to recycle, see if someone else wants to read it. For free.
Pause- I hear the girly is awake. She yells “Cock-a-doodle-do” when she wakes up. It’s funny. Ready to start this last day of being two!
Ok, now I have a friend by my side.
She has been picking out her outfits lately, I didn’t have the heart to tell her she had the wrong season.
I got a little tired of the lacrosse stuff in the kitchen. So I left the boys a message by the front door.
Austin got home later and I found this, right next to the dishwasher
He claims he came in the back door and went up the back stairs, completely by-passing the front hall. But still….
Cole spent the evening at Math night at his school. Dude loves math. I hate math.
We got a new bird cage. These birds….sigh. This bird cage is so much better than the old one and keeps the seed from flying out. I knew that moving the birds from the old cage to the new would not be easy, Sally is mean. She bites. Hard. I texted Andy at work yesterday and told him that Sally was sharpening her teeth in preparation to take him on. Sure enough, when he went to grab her to move her into the new cage she chomped down hard (he wears very thick work gloves). Milo, the blue bird- doesn’t bite. When I went to check on them this morning Milo had his foot caught in the blanket that was covering the cage. Poor guy, he had been struggling all night I think. He was scared. Andy got him untangled and he is fine. When he got free Sally was all over him, kissing him, chirping to him…….Bird drama.
We got the estimate to fence the back part of our yard- with a three board style fence like we had at our last house. 10k. Sigh. So we decided to try out the existing underground fence that is already around the property. The guy is coming out tomorrow to train the dogs. We will see how it goes. This way they will have the entire yard, front and back to roam. But we have never had a underground fence. No idea how the dogs will react. Or how long it will take for one of the boys to dare the other to put a collar on and walk through the fence.
Austin is injured and headed to the dr. today- got checked pretty hard in lacrosse, went down wrong on his ankle and it has been huge and swollen for days. Half the team is out with injuries, broken ribs, back injuries, and one of the kids broke his hip- at least that is what Austin claims. I think he just hurt it really bad. He’s on crutches, not a body cast. I’m ready for the season to be over. One more week.
In addition to the guy coming to train the dogs tomorrow, we have soccer practice. lax game, my brother and SIL coming in from TX and a certain girlies birthday!!! Should be a busy day!

We have invisible fencing…it works great. We have the stubborn dog collar, because we have stubborn dogs. We cover ten acres with it. I hope it works as well for you.
Sorry about the bird drama. You know how those birds are…They are just all about the drama. There is just so much peer pressure in the bird world, they just crack under the pressure. 🙂
